  Introduction Top

It has become the fashion to have a gas cooking facility in the kitchen of even the middle-class personnel like teachers, and office-going people (middle-income group) in Chennai.

The story is about a small family, who had a 6-year-old girl child and lived in the 2nd floor of small flat. Recently, they wanted to avoid kerosene stove and switch over to gas cooking. They purchased a two-top gas stove, with single tube connection and single cylinder.

After having purchased the stove, first the working mother ordered an Indian Oil gas and asked the boy who brings the cylinder to connect to the stove with a proper tube.

  • She should have the boy how to switch on the gas and switch off
  • She should have asked the boy whether she can boil two pans (milk and water) on the range
  • She should also have asked the boy whether boiling on pan is better at a time. The Indian Oil cylinder boy would have definitely told her to boil only one pan
  • The Indian Oil boy also would have told her not to leave the room while water or milk or curry is boiling
  • The learners in kitchen should first buy only one stove and one cylinder. Also, make the lady realize that while cooking, or boiling milk or anything. She should not leave the kitchen. That means, cut, wash, and arrange everything for cooking, then ignite, then never leavers room.

The child was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and was intubated by the anesthesiologist. The flat building with the dead body of mother and father became cinder after 2 days. The skeleton of father and mother was present.

The child survived with scars, the child was referred to the burn unit of KKCTH, and today we are planning to do some scar revision for her and send her to a free school to study further as her grandparents are alive, she may be able to stay at home and study.

The fire tender arrived and took 2 days to completely put out the smoke. The child who had 45% deep burns was taken to the ICU of KKCTH and looked after, then she was transferred to the burns unit where extensive raw areas were split skin grafted.

Now, the girl is 9 years old and wants some scars on in face rectified and goes to school. The neighbors in the top floors and garden suddenly flame and gas emanating from the first floor. The child was safely placed in water in the ground and calling an emergency ambulance was taken. The childs trust hospital and admitted in the PICU. She had to be treated with acute care, and finally transferred to the burns ward and was discharged after 3 months. The grandparents who are looking after her are bringing the child for dressing. Almost all the wounds have healed. As 1 year has passed since the event, we would like to do the following.

Approach the IOC to properly advise the buyer – as to the stove–cooker–connection tubes–cylinder – how to get a new cylinder. The place and telephone number of the shop.
